Bloggers: The new media or a fad?

An article with the title: Bloggers: The new media or a fad? Publish by the Seattle P.I. (Back when it was a news paper) in July 28, 2004 as 7 years has past, are bloggers a fad? 7 years came and bloggers are still blogging, not only are they blogging by the masses but this new media has been over-taken by this newer Social Media? (Namely: Twitter, Facebook etc.), so as some fear. But the chances of that happening with the likes of Twitter or Facebook taken over as the new media platform is a longshot, no not too far off either, really depending on what this new media they are writing about.

Today's bloggers have become the norml of bringing content to the web, not just for news content or the telling of "what's happening" in your neighborhood, but by blogging about recipee's, new technologies, science discoveries, photo blogging etc. Twitter and Facebook are known for some-what-different things; Twitter is known for a short blog or micro-blogging while Facebook can be just like Twitter as well but much more than that and it all depends on who wants to use them. Many bloggers have those as well, they integrate them with their blogs or vice-versa. For instance when ever I add a new content to BSL it automatically post them to Twitter or Facebook and if I want I can do the same if I posted contents on Twitter it can be shown in my blog on the sidebar as well.

Blogging using any kind of blogging platform and the likes of Facebook/Twitter are great and this kind of "new media's" are in no way of a threat to each other, just as the Amazon Kindle is in no way of a threat to paper back books? Well, Border did announce bankruptcy earlier this year, but this has some what had little to do with digital books, it could had been due to over-expansion or bad management, well probably a little. Paper back books will still be around for much longer. The success of paper back books could had been due to the introduction of Amazon.com following many other online and offline retailers like Borders feeding of the success of Amazon from the 90's until the recessions came around.

The point to this artcle is basically saying that any platform/medium can work together, it is all about which users are willing to use them, if a great majority switches from one to another, but never really fading-out the other, then both can co-exist together. It is all about democracy, people's choice!
